Blog Phase III: Comprehensive Reflection

  • Standard 1: Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
    1. promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness.- For this they would use kidspiration to be creative in any and every way.
    2. engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources.-For this I would use the internet for students to research and write papers to display knowledge.
    3. promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes.-For this I would allow collaboration through google drive this would allow for them to use technology and resources.
    4. model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments.-For this I would use glogster so they can visually engage and show other their work and thinking process.

  • Standard 4: Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility
    1. advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of digital information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the appropriate documentation of sources.-For this I would have student research on what this is and have them make a powerpoint on each area.
    2. address the diverse needs of all learners by using learner-centered strategies providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and resources.- For this I would allow students multiple resources or tools for all assignments.
    3. promote and model digital etiquette and responsible social interactions related to the use of technology and information.-For this I would show students examples of how to do this and why it is important by allowing them to work through my glogster.
    4. develop and model cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with colleagues and students of other cultures using digital-age communication and collaboration tools.-For this I would have students research other cultures and how much assess they have to technology.

Lesson 2 Phase 2 Post 3

  1. Assessment of Learning (InTask Standard # 6): Refer to Assessing Student Learning
    • I only had one artifact because my other students did not follow directions.
    • The students did great and it showed a higher level of knowledge as well as creativity.

Lesson 2 Phase 2 Post 2

  1. Mechanics:
    • I used the smart board to introduce centers and how they work. Students used internet to do centers and kidspiration to complete their fraction stories.
    • Smartboard was used for about 5 minutes and internet for 30 minutes while kidspiration was used for the remained of the time.
    • My lesson was within the correct time frame because of the multiple uses of technology students used as well as what was required of them with their fraction stories.

Lesson 2 Phase 2 Post 1

  1. Instructional Decisions/Teaching (InTask Standard # 9): Discuss the implementation process and describe
    •  The things that when well were the stories them selves that the students produced however, the center sites didn't go as well because one of them were down at the beginning of the center time.
    • These were very well aligned with standards and helped build knowledge towards the finished products which was the main purpose of the centers.
    • I had to make changes to centers because of the one that wasn't working as well as finished works because some students were late.

Lesson
Reflection
This lesson and assessment align together perfectly with the standards and objectives because when planning my lesson I double checked for alignment. This is very important because is you have a meaning less assessment then you are not doing any justice for your children. This assessment demonstrates that students Have successfully learned the content because this was a student product lesson. This is very important to do because it shows authentic learning. This also shows higher order thinking because you can see how the students are learning and their process. The individual students needs were met because the the lesson was very individualized as well as the products they produced. Overall it was a good lesson and the assessment was very unknown.

Post 2 Lesson 1

Lesson
Reflection

I used these methods because of the ages of my students. I want to keep students engaged and wanting to learn. I think keeping in mind students and their ages is the most important part of planning. Overall students are the most important part of the learning equation.

My instructional methods are aligned with my best practices because I know my students best as well as myself. I'm keeping students engaged by offering multiple learning opportunities and by offering more difficult things for gifted students. As well as offering options for my students with learning disabilities.

The technologies I use is to engage and allow for my students to learning in a fun environment. This also helps students enjoy what they are doing and want to complete assignments. Overall this is about the students and them learning in this environment.

Lesson 2 Post 1 Phase 1

Lesson two

Reflect on:
Assessing Prior Knowledge: (Discuss the following for this lesson)
  • What do the students need to know prior to the lesson? Students need to know about fractions which this would happen in the week this lesson is taught. This lesson would most likely be happening at the end of the week.
  • How will prior knowledge and experience be assessed? These will be assessed by a discussion at circle before and after reading the book.
  • How will you use this information in the planning process? I will lengthen or shorten the centers based on prior knowledge. If students seem less knowledgeable I will lengthen the centers.
Planning Instruction: (Discuss the following for this lesson)
  • Why should the content of this lesson be taught at this grade level? Because they need all the prior knowledge of numbers to understand fractions. Also students don't begin to understand this till numbers really begin to click in their brains.
  • How do the objectives that you have for the lesson align with the standards? They align perfectly because I have made sure to connect the standards to my objectives.
  • When will the lesson be taught in the course of the school year? Why? Fractions will come after multiplication and dividing because you need to know how and why fractions are used.
